The Civil Coalition for Elections held a meeting focusing on the importance of working towards the successful conduct of the legislative elections on their scheduled date of 28 November 2026, and on the need for the active engagement of all stakeholders in the electoral process, including political parties, political forces and factions, civil society organizations, and media outlets, to ensure that the elections are held as scheduled.

The Civil Coalition for Elections affirms that the electoral process has commenced and that its member organisations have begun their preparations to monitor its various stages. These preparations include the formation, training, and capacity-building of election monitoring teams in accordance with professional standards, thereby contributing to the promotion of democratic, free, fair, and transparent elections.

The Coalition calls for the provision of a political and legal environment that guarantees public rights and freedoms, including freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and the freedom to engage in political activity. It further calls upon all official, civil, and security institutions to maintain full neutrality throughout the electoral process. The Coalition also calls for the issuance of an official decree affirming the protection of public rights and freedoms and ensuring equal opportunities for all electoral lists and candidates.

The Coalition welcomes the announcement by international bodies of their intention to participate in monitoring the elections, given the importance of such participation in enhancing the integrity of the electoral process and providing political support for the Palestinian democratic process.

The Coalition affirms that states and international institutions supporting democracy and the rights of the Palestinian people should translate their positions into tangible support for the electoral process and exert clear political pressure on the occupying authorities to prevent any interference or measures that could obstruct the elections or deprive Palestinians, particularly in Jerusalem, of their right to participate.

The Coalition also supports the arrangements and preparations announced by the Central Elections Commission and expresses its confidence in the Commission's ability to find practical solutions to the technical and logistical challenges facing the electoral process in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. This should ensure the broadest possible participation and prevent the occupying authorities from being given an opportunity to obstruct this democratic process.

The Coalition stresses that holding free, fair, and inclusive elections requires respect for fundamental freedoms, the neutrality of official institutions, the independence of the Central Elections Commission, and the concerted efforts of national and international actors to protect the right of Palestinians to freely choose their representatives.
