Al-Haq Position Paper: Unmasking the “Freeze”: Israel’s alleged Moratorium on Settlement Construction Whitewashes Egregious Violations of International Law
REF.: 246/2010
26، Sept 2010
On the occasion of the upcoming end of Israel‘s Moratorium on settlement construction in the West Bank, which formally terminates on 26 September 2010, Al-Haq issues a position paper unmasking Israel‘s alleged settlement construction "freeze", providing an analysis of its terms and objectives under international law. Al-Haq‘s legal analysis concludes that Israel‘s long-standing systematic violations of international law through the construction and maintenance of settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory cannot be remedied by the hollow political measures embodied by Israel‘s Moratorium.
