Escalations have continued across the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) since 6 December 2017, in the wake of United States (US) President Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem, in contravention of international law and long-standing international consensus on the status of Jerusalem. Throughout the month of December 2017, 13 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) in the OPT, while 4,690 injuries were recorded in the same period by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

MK Oren Hazan with an Israeli right-wing group assaulted Palestinian Families on their way to Visit their Relatives at Nafha Prison On Monday, 25 December 2017, Israeli right-wing Likud Member of Knesset (MK) Oren Hazan assaulted a bus transporting families of Palestinian political prisoners from Gaza to Nafha Prison, beyond the Green Line, to visit their detained relatives. Together with a group of right-wing Israelis, MK Hazan blocked the entrance to Nafha Prison, boarded the bus and verbally assaulted and harassed the Palestinian families, most of whom were women and elderly men.

Five Palestinians killed during Protests across the OPT since 7 December 2017 Protests and demonstrations have continued across the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) since United States President Trump’s announcement on Jerusalem on 6 December 2017. Thousands of Palestinians have taken to the streets to protest the decision, gathering at Israeli checkpoints, military zones, and entrances of cities and towns in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) have forcibly targeted peaceful Palestinian assemblies throughout the OPT, dispersing protesters by shooting live bullets, rubber-coated metal bullets, and firing tear gas and sound grenades.
